A+++ Grade Moldavite From Jankov #111 - 21.91g
Upgrade your collection with one of the rarest tektites on Earth - Moldavite - especially the specimen over 20 grams. This triangle shaped piece of nature's art was sourced in the Jankov locality and offers a very high frequency vibration energy. A truly one of a kind specimen, the beauty of which words can't describe, it is unprocessed and specs of the original mother soil have intentionally been left in to furtherly highlight its natural beauty.
Moldavites from the Jankov locality—situated roughly 0.5 km southeast of the village of Jankov in South Bohemia, Czech Republic—hold a highly distinct and fascinating status among mineral collectors. Unlike the famously spiky "hedgehog" moldavites from Besednice, Jankov specimens are celebrated for their unique geological history, specific color profiles, and intense internal pressure.
Key Characteristics of Jankov Moldavites:
High Internal Tension: The defining geological characteristic of Jankov moldavites is their high internal stress. Because of this structural tension, the glass fractured easily over time, meaning whole shapes (complete forms) are exceptionally rare. Most pieces found are smaller, fractured fragments.
Subdued "Muted" Sculptation: Jankov deposits are covered by a dense, impermeable layer of clay overburden. This protective layer limited the stones' exposure to acidic groundwater over the millennia, resulting in a much smoother, less deeply etched surface texture compared to other localities.
Distinct Dull Color Palette: While many South Bohemian locations yield bright bottle-green glass, Jankov moldavites are famous for their unique dull gray-green to olive-gray surfaces.
Impact Proximity: Geologists believe that the tektites at this locality experienced minimal water transport after hitting the earth. They are deposited very close to their original 15-million-year-old impact zone.
